With over 5,000 employees and a presence in every county across the state, Texas A&M AgriLife is uniquely positioned to improve lives, environments and the Texas economy through education, research, extension and service.Click here to learn more about how you can be a part of AgriLife and make a difference in the world!Position Information:The Project Manager, under direction, manages day-to-day project activities including developing, implementing, tracking budgets, tracking timelines and deliverables, and providing periodic evaluations and reports for projects that are generally medium in scope.Responsibilities:* Assists in defining project mission and vision.* Manages project portfolios in line with business strategies and in accordance with project management standards. Periodically conducts meetings with stakeholders to schedule and coordinate project activities.* Coordinates project resources in conjunction with resource holders and other project managers. Manages projects that the problem and solution may be defined moderate to achieve* Manages project quality control and assurance.* Establishes goals for project delivery. Applies current best practices in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and project lifecycle.* Coordinates the collection and organization of project data, invoices, and reporting in and out.* Manages and supervises project team.* Routinely communicates with faculty and stakeholders to increase participation in projects; routinely communicates with colleagues and AgriLife Research administration about potential R&D, commercialization and/or other investment opportunities.* Provides input and monitors budget that usually has a minor to moderate impact on financial revenue and expenses.* Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.* Five years of related experience.* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects using the project management lifecycle.* Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.* Effective verbal and written communication skills.* Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills.* Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.* Previous background and familiarity with agriculture industry.* Knowledge of soil science and agronomy.* Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.Preferred Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree or higher in agronomy, soil science, soil conservation, agricultural systems management, or similar discipline.* Directly relatable experience in effective communication with a range of agricultural stakeholders.* Project Management Professional (PMP).* Ability to foster effective partnerships with farmers, landowners, Extension educators, researchers, USDA and state agency personnel, commodity organizations, and industry partners.Other Requirements:* Requires working evening and weekend hours.* Requires travel to various counties within Texas.What You Need to Know:Non-immigrant foreign nationals are prohibited by export control laws from performing the employment responsibilities associated with this position; sponsorship is not available.Salary:Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate's qualifications.Why Work at Texas A&M AgriLife?When you choose to work for Texas A&M AgriLife, you become part of an organization that is an established leader in agriculture and life sciences with a wide range of capabilities to meet the needs of our statewide, national, and international constituents.In addition, Texas A&M AgriLife offers a comprehensive benefit package including the following:* Health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance with Texas A&M AgriLife contributing to employee health and basic life premiums* 12-15 days of annual paid holidays* Up to eight hours of paid sick leave and at least eight hours of paid vacation each month* Automatic enrollment in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas* Employee Wellness Initiative for Texas A&M AgriLifeApplicant Instructions:Applications received by Texas A&M AgriLife must either have all job application data entered or a resume attached.
