Summary
Maintains landscaped areas for LP&L's substations.

Essential Functions

  • Mow, trim, edge lawns. Trim trees and shrubs. Mow/shred native acres;
  • Apply non-restricted pesticides to substation yards;
  • Operate and maintain mechanical equipment;
  • Haul materials by truck or tractor;
  • Pick up litter and trash from grounds;
  • Start irrigation systems and make minor repair to systems;
  • Assist in testing and repairing transformers;
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications
Completion of high school or GED with an additional one year experience in groundskeeping, or maintenance work or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Valid Texas Driver's License
Certified Non-Commercial Applicator

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:
Groundskeeping methods, associated equipment and tools.

Ability to:
  • Use hand tools and motorized equipment;
  • Perform heavy physical labor;
  • Ability to acquire a Non-commercial Applicators license.
Physical Requirements:
  • Continuously lift and carry up to 40 pounds;
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds;
  • Frequently walk and stand during the shift;
  • Frequently bend and kneel during the shift;
  • Push and pull objects;
  • Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees;
  • Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing;
  • Frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height;
  • Coordinate eye, hand and foot movements.
